The Empire army for the first scenario of Sigmar's Blood completed!

Just a couple of hours before the first quarter of 2014 was over I finished painting the last miniature (ie. the Witch Hunter) for the first scenario of Sigmar's Blood campaign.

10 Knights of the White Wolf (Full Command). These replace the Knights of the Burning Sun that are in the official list for the scenario, I just prefer Ulric to Myrmidia ;-)

10 Reiksguard Knights (Full Command). These are actually for the 4th scenario, but they were mostly completed anyway so I did them too.

Witch Hunter who will be the general of the army.

I also added a quick wash to some parts of the 10 Handgunners I had painted many years ago. I am still not quite happy with them, maybe I will ditch them at some point and paint some new ones instead.

And here's the full army:
1 Witch Hunter, 20 Swordsmen, 10 Handgunners, 10 Knights and 1 Great cannon.

Those who have read the scenario book might notice that the official lists have 8 knights in the unit and I made 10 of each. The reason is that I prefer that unit size and as I had extra models I increased the unit sizes by 2.

I had set the Vampire Count army as an extra goal, but did not get any significant progress towards that one. We will see what will happen during Q2...

Something old, something new

Oh well, time just flies past when you let it do what it wants...

So, I did not pass the challenge for last year. But I still got about 150 miniatures painted, for which I am happy.

And of course I planned a new challenge for 2014:

Painting the Empire army for Sigmar's Blood campaign.

As the campaign consists of four battles, I will try to paint the army for each battle for each quarter of the year. For the first quarter this means painting the Empire Battleforce (20 swordsmen, 10 handgunners, 8 knights and 1 cannon with 3 crew) and A Witch Hunter Hero to lead the force.

I have painted some of the required miniatures some years ago, but I will revamp those a bit. And if the painting goes well I might try to get the Vampire Count army painted too ;-) (Yeah, dream on...)

Here's what I got painted after the last blog post from 2013:

An unit of 12 Dwarf Thunderers with Full Command group

These two I started some time (years) ago and just put to the finishing touches:

Dwarf Daemon Slayer

Dwarf Lord on Runestone

In addition, I got something done for the challenge. As usual I get sidetracked with my painting but I will do my best to stick to the plan. Even though the new Dwarf and Tyranid miniatures tempt me so much...

1 Mortar with 3 crew
1 Great Cannon with 3 crew

The cannon crew I had already painted, as well as the guns themselves. But I wanted to give them bases so I actually only did the bases. But, they are done now (though only the cannon is needed for the campaign).

More Battle (lore)

More Battlelore, we are approaching the amount needed for some of the scenarios in the game...

For the Pennant side:
2 Red Human Knights (Heavy Infantry)
2 Red Human Knights (Heavy Cavalry)

For the Standard side:
1 Green Human Archers
1 Blue Human Cavalry
2 Red Human Knights (Heavy Infantry)
2 Red Human Knights (Heavy Cavalry)
1 Red Human Halberdiers (can be fielded on both sides, hence the extra flag)

Back to painting, many many miniatures still to do...

Cops

Another batch of miniatures for no specific game, a set of cops from Wargames Foundry.

6 Cops.

I have some scenarios in mind to use them with the agents I painted previously. And depending the case they might help or hinder them...

Also, they have a kind of Police Academy feeling to them, at least half of them (ie. Callahan, Hightower & Hooks)

More green

Finally finished the Orks I've mentioned before, so 20 more miniatures painted for the challenge.

Mek Boss Buzzgob and his Grot Oilers (Nitnuckle & Lunk).
Buzzgob is introduced in Imperial Armour 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem

2 Deffkoptas converted to have Big Bomms and Buzzsaws.
Big Bomms are from Forgeworld's Ork Bomb pack (which seems to be no longer available). One of the Buzzsaws is from Ork Nob-box and the other is an Inquisitor-scale (54mm) chainsword.

One Killa Kan.
Basically just a test for the rest of the vehicles in the army.

Ork Shoota Boyz Mob, 14 strong. Includes 2 Rokkit Launchas.
I have previously painted 16 of those (with one Rokkit Launcha & 1 Nob),
so this gives me a full 30 strong mob.

And back to painting, still have a long way to go if I intend to finish the 2013 Challenge...
